Disaster Relief Training Session

Class Registration Due by October 21, 2020 – To register, please contact Tiffany Neilson or Russ Hohmann

Training Sessions Available:

Introduction to Disaster Relief
This the only required class in Disaster Relief to serve on teams as a helper. This class starts your adventure that has the potential to change your life as you provide spiritual and physical help to those in crisis. Train to meet the urgent needs of those in crisis situations with loving care and a timely response as James 2:15-16 instructs us to do. Disaster relief is Christian love in action.

  • Cost for initial training is $45 covers: 1 background check, Manual (emailed), 1 badge, 1 cap, and 1 T-shirt.
  • Recertification cost $17 covers: 1 background check and 1 badge.

Recovery
Recovery (Mud Out (Flood), Ashout (Fire), Debris (Windstorm, etc.)) Not glamorous but oh so necessary. It is more than shoveling mud in buckets – come and learn the safety aspects of recovery.

Chaplain Training
Disaster Relief trained chaplains who provide crisis intervention and care in the field with our units for personal care of homeowners and team members throughout the disaster cycle. They may also be deployed to areas such as shelters, a Disaster Relief Center, an Emergency Operations Center, and MARCs, etc.

Damage Assessment
The preliminary assessment of the disaster including the extent of damage, the number of homes affected, and so on.

Water Purification
Operating a water purification unit and developing a large capacity for water storage.

Accommodations
This is Church Camping so come prepared with cots/sleeping bags and personal items and enjoy the fellowship and convenience. Men and Women in separate rooms. Lunch is provided on-site Friday. Friday dinner will be on your own. If you need hotel or restaurant information, please ask the contact persons.
